Satyendra Pakhalé was invited by the city of Lille, France to design and co-curate an exhibition called 'Bombay maximum city'. Pakhalé, "Mumbai is certainly a valid example to be seen in the international arena. Many different worlds co-exist in Mumbai, and together they keep homogenizing influences in check. Nothing demonstrates this more clearly than Mumbai politics, festivals, underworld, film industry, riots, services & affiliations, groups- formal & informal communal organizations. To represent all this in an exhibition is a real challenge, how to show Mumbai's reality and dream in an international context without being judgmental."

"One of the best possible ways to do that is to show some of the contemporary artworks in context within the urban setting of Mumbai. In a contemporary context, the human issues concerning mega cities around the world have got some universal similarities, and besides that there are some culture specific situations, such as the wonderful lunch delivery system of 'Dabbawalla'. It has been an overwhelming task to conceive the scheme for the exhibition, the sequence, and the confrontation of each artwork next to it, its context. The key idea was to create a continuous & fluid sequence, winding through little squares and inside single architectural space."
